Kapokier is a tree pushing into the tropical areas of South America, West Africa and Southeast Asia. This tree considered sacred in Mayans is a giant and imposing tree up to 70m high having the particularity of a smooth trunk covered with large thorns.

 The fine and soft hairs covering the seeds of the kapokier are used to obtain the vegetable fiber called Kapok.
