About our founder
Born and raised in Rabat, Morocco, Chama El Ajmi grew up in a family of architects, awakening an early interest in design and noble materials. She continued her studies in Interior Architecture in Paris, where she developed a keen eye for aesthetics and spatial harmony.
Returning to Morocco in 2014, she founded Atelier Cocon, specializing in the creation of decorative cushions. It was at the heart of this workshop that she deepened her expertise, exploring natural materials, tapestry, and woodworking, with a strong commitment to local craftsmanship and the authenticity of materials.
At 25, she moved to the United States to complete a degree in Business, an experience that marked a decisive turning point in her entrepreneurial vision. An entrepreneur at heart, she developed her first collections, which she sold on Etsy and in designer marketplaces, thus refining her approach to design and customer experience.
In 2020, the global upheavals caused by lockdowns offered the company the opportunity to rethink its relationship with well-being. It was during this period of returning to the essentials that the idea of linking design and mindfulness practices emerged. This profound reflection gave rise to a new direction for Atelier Cocon: creating meditation and yoga accessories that combine elegance, comfort, and respect for the environment.
Four years later, Chama has grown Atelier Cocon and established itself as the leading brand in the Zen world, while also becoming a preferred partner for wellness professionals. Today, Atelier Cocon's creations embody the art of mindfulness, offering spaces of calm and serenity at the heart of everyday life.
