In an era of overconsumption and facing an inevitable global environmental crisis, at Atelier Cocon , we seek every day to reduce our impact on the environment and to create with good intention.
Fabrics
In our workshop, this approach begins with our raw materials. Although we wanted to create our own fabrics, we realized that there were already beautiful fabrics on the market for making yoga and meditation accessories. We therefore collect forgotten rolls of fabric, left over from large industrial orders from our local merchants, thus encouraging small businesses and giving these fabrics a second life. In addition, our fabric scraps are collected and sent to be shredded, to be used as stuffing or to be re-spun.
Padding
Our meditation cushions and yoga cushions are filled with plant-based or recycled materials. For example, the spelt husk we use to fill our meditation cushions is grown on a certified organic farm in the Moroccan Rif. The kapok used to fill our yoga bolsters is a rot-proof and antimicrobial plant-based wool. Finally, our cotton fiber filling comes from cotton clothing or industrial scraps ground to obtain cotton fiber.
Packaging
Although it's a challenge, we strive to minimize the use of plastic when packaging and shipping our packages. To do this, we use recycled cardboard, meaning cardboard that has already been used and to which we give a new life. Our bags are made from kraft paper, and our labels also come from recycled kraft paper. We also use fabric covers that you can reuse as bags.
Support for the local economy
Finally, we work to boost the local economy by sourcing our products locally and encouraging the employment of Moroccan labor and local know-how. In fact, it is thanks to our two seamstresses that our workshop is able to offer you handmade and carefully designed products.
