Our promise to the environment
At a time of over-consumption and an unavoidable global environmental crisis, we at Atelier Cocon seek every day to reduce our impact on the environment and create with good intention;
Fabrics
In our workshop, this quest begins with our raw materials. Indeed, although we'd like to create our own fabrics, we felt that there was enough on the market to create wonderful yoga and meditation accessories. We therefore collect forgotten rolls of fabric left over from large industrial orders from our local merchants, encouraging small businesses and giving these fabrics a second life. What's more, our fabric scraps are collected and sent for shredding to be used as padding or for re-spinning.
Stuffing
Our meditation and yoga cushions are stuffed with plant-based or recycled materials. For example, the spelt husk we use to stuff our meditation half-moons is grown on a certified organic farm in the Moroccan Rif. The Kapok used to stuff our bolsters is a rot-proof, anti-microbial plant wool. Last but not least, our cotton fiber padding comes from cotton garments or industrial offcuts ground to obtain cotton fiber.
Packaging
Although very challenging, we strive to use as little plastic as possible to pack and send our parcels to you. To do this, we use recycled cardboard, i.e. previously used cardboard that we give a second life once again. Our bags are made from Kraft paper, and our labels are also made from recycled Kraft. We also use fabric covers that you can reuse as bags.
Finally, we work to boost the economy by sourcing our products locally and encouraging the employment of Moroccan labor and know-how. In fact, it's thanks to our two seamstresses that our workshop is able to offer you products made by hand and with intention.
